Getting laid off was rough in the beginning but eventually, I began to come around as learning about green jobs in my area gave me some hope about my future.

By talking to people who were in a similar situation as me, I learned about new resources that weren’t as available 20 years ago. With the information highway, I was able to make contacts with some key persons in this industry and give myself an upgrade when it came to skills that needed sharpening.

While the transition into becoming marketable was not always smooth, I was proud of the progress I would make in my getting into a new career.

And I’ve met some nice people along the way as well. Some took the new economic changes we’ve had to face pretty hard but as long as we can encourage one another, that’s what matters outside of getting back on payroll.

One day, a representative from the television company called my home with a bundle offer and my teenage son accepted it for me. While getting used to the slow internet connection and slower technical support, I decided to give green hosting a shot at my business.

The funny thing was that every time I called my former hosting company, they would place me on hold after navigating through the lengthy phone menu, then go through many steps to confirm who I was and once they finally figured out the problem, they would try to sell me something. And telling them ‘no’ did no good as these representatives would persist, even after you hung up the phone mid-sentence.

So with my new company, all they are concerned about is helping me. No sales pitches or anything to infuriate me. I’m even thinking about using them for my new online business venture.
