In 1997, Governor Christine Todd Whitman appointed Richard Goldberg as a Commissioner to the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology. He was reappointed by then acting Governor DiFrancesco in 2000. Mr. Goldberg has been an outspoken advocate for the high-tech industry in New Jersey, most recently calling for the expansion of the state’s Technology Incubator Program. Mr. Goldberg was one of the originators of the High-Tech Hall of Fame when he served as Executive Director for the New Jersey-Pennsylvania Council  and the New York Council of AeA, Advancing the Business of Technology (formerly called the American Electronics Association), the nation's largest technology trade group.

Since October of 2000, Richard Goldberg has been serving as President of
the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. Prior to joining CIANJ, Richard was the Executive Director of the New Jersey-Pennsylvania Council  and the New York Council of AeA, Advancing the Business of Technology (formerly called the American Electronics Association), the nation's largest technology trade group.

Mr. Goldberg also serves  as a Trustee on the Bergen County Workforce Investment Board, and as a member of  the New Jersey Small Business Development Center's State Advisory Board. He was named one of New  Jersey's top 40 business leaders under 40 by Business News New Jersey in 1998,  and is included yearly in New Jersey's Who's Who. In the early 90's, Goldberg  served as Councilman and then Deputy Mayor of Aberdeen Township.

Mr. Goldberg has been an outspoken advocate for the high-tech  industry in New Jersey, most recently calling for the expansion of the state's Technology Incubator Program. He has spoken regularly on the importance of the  tech industry to the New Jersey economy, and advocates reducing the regulatory  and tax burden on New Jersey business.

As Executive Director for the New Jersey-Pennsylvania Council of AeA, he was instrumental in developing the New Jersey High Tech Hall of Fame.

Mr. Goldberg is married to Jill and lives in northern New Jersey.
