Jeremiah “Jerry” Ryan has been the President of Raritan Valley
Community College since March 2000.
He supervises all of the academic and administrative enterprises
of the College.
Raritan
Valley Community College (RVCC) serves over 30,000 students each year,
and has a $32Million operating budget. It offers programs on its 240-acre main campus in North
Branch, New Jersey, at a higher education center in Franklin, and at 11
satellite centers. RVCC is
a comprehensive community college offering degrees, certificates, and
employee development training.
Dr.
Ryan is an honors graduate of Hamilton College with a Bachelor’s
degree in Government and Speech. He
earned a Master of Arts degree from Stanford University in
Organizational Development and a Master of Science degree from the State
University of New York at Albany in Education Administration.
His doctorate is in Higher Education Administration from Nova
Southeastern University. Dr.
Ryan has had post doctoral Fellowships with the League for Innovation in
the Community College and the American Association of Community
Colleges.
Dr.
Ryan remains active in the classroom. He teaches political science at RVCC and is a national
professor of higher education at Nova Southeastern, teaching courses in
politics and institutional advancement.
Nationally,
Dr. Ryan serves on The League for Innovation in the Community College,
Campus Compact, Combase, Community College Continuous Improvement
Network and AACC’s Commission on Student and Community Development.
Dr.
Ryan represents the community college sector on three statewide boards:
Quality New Jersey, Regional Planning Partnership and New Jersey
Technology Council.
Dr.
Ryan’s expertise in finance and economic development is utilized by
his professional service.
He is a member of the Budget Committee of the President’s
Counsel and the Finance Committee of the Council of County Colleges.
He chairs both the Economic Development Committee and the
Workforce Development Consortium for the Council of County Colleges.
Locally,
Dr. Ryan serves on the Board of Directors of the Hunterdon Healthcare
System, The Chubb Foundation, Kids Voting New Jersey, Hunterdon County
Chamber of Commerce, Greater Raritan Workforce Investment Board, United
Way of Somerset County, Literacy Volunteers of America and the
Business Partnership of Somerset County.
Dr.
Ryan and his wife Gail live in Bridgewater.
