Dr. John V. Tesoriero



John V. Tesoriero, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of The New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology.

Dr. Tesoriero is a former, tenured, research and administrative faculty member of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he served as Program Director for the Medical Anatomy Program of New Jersey Medical School and Director for Basic Science Education and Research for the School of Health Related Professions. He is a medical scientist, investigator and educator and author of a textbook. He also served as an executive with Cathedral Healthcare System, Inc. in Newark, as Corporate Director for Research and Sponsored Programs. He is an author and lecturer in the area of grants and grants administration. Dr. Tesoriero has also been a leader in a number of HIV/AIDS related civic activities throughout northern and central New Jersey.

In his role with the Commission on Science and Technology, he has guided the expansion of New Jersey’s business incubation network to more than double the number of incubators in the state. He manages a $5 million annual investment program for early stage technology companies and directs the State’s investments in fostering excellence in new areas of technology research at our universities.

The New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology was formed in 1985 to foster a strong technology–based economy within the State through the development of a vigorous technology infrastructure, stimulation of academic–industrial collaboration, identification and support for viable new technology initiatives, and support for technology business development activities. The Commission currently supports a wide range of Research &Development and business development activities, from advanced technology centers at our State's research universities to business assistance, and loans to small technology businesses.
